1971 was the start of my life as a researcher, although I did not realise that at the time.

I had finished my degree in 1971, and immediately started as adjunkt (assistant professor) at the newly opened Institute of Psychology at the University of Aarhus. Although the 'publish or perish' attitude was less pronounced in those days, it soon became apparent that publishing papers was a good idea.
